The Cen-Tex Humane Society is a nonprofit organization. We operate the Second Chance Animal Shelter, a no-kill shelter serving the greater Killeen area.

We are open:
Monday-Friday Noon to 5pm
Saturday & Sunday 11am-5pm
We participate in the Combined Federal Campaign

We usually have a number of dogs that are heartworm positive. We have been quoted excellent rates from Dr. Buckley in Killeen: Treatment for each animal costs about $200. If you would like to sponsor an animal, please click on the donate button on the left, or contact the shelter at 254-526-6200.

Need to know

The shelter accepts abandoned and owner-surrendered animals on a space-available basis for a surrender fee which varies according to the spay/neuter and health status of the animal/s.

Petsmart and Petco on the weekends
We bring a selection of our dogs and cats to Petsmart in Killeen and Petco in Harker Heights on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

BINGO! for the animals
Play bingo at Bingo Hall Number 2 (behind Taco Bell) in Copperas Cove
starting at 6:30PM every Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday

Help us with your RECYCLABLES

Centroplex Recycling, 2400 E Veterans Memorial Blvd (across from the Killeen Community Center) accepts aluminum cans, paper, cardboard boxes etc.
You can drop off your recyclables yourself and tell them it is for the Cen-Tex HS/Second Chance Animal Shelter, OR you can drop off at the shelter and we will take it to the recycle center.
All your cat food cans are aluminum.
